Fixing it right the first time.

Broken Garage Door Spring

If your garage door is heavy or almost impossible to open, you most likely have a broken spring. If using a garage door opener, the opener lights will flash and not open the door. Continued use of your garage door opener will strip the gear and add to the repair cost. To check if you have a broken spring, look above the garage door to see if the spring is in multiple pieces.

Broken Garage Door Cable

If your garage door is opening on an angle you have a broken garage door cable. Two cables operate your garage door, when one breaks it throws off the balance of the garage door. Continued use will only make the issue worse and add to the cost of the repair. Replacing both cables and adding the correct torsion to the spring will get your garage door operating back to normal.

Garage Door Won’t Open

There are multiple reasons your garage door is not opening; the top two would be a broken spring or cable. Other issues could be obstructions like a seized roller, bent garage door panel or track. If using an opener, it could mean you have a stripped gear. Regardless of the issue, do not try to force your garage door open, it could add to the cost of the repair.

Tips & Common Garage Door Issues

The garage door will not close when using my garage door opener:

  • Check the photo eyes located at the bottom of the garage door tracks. The sending signal has an orange/amber light and the receiving end is green. If this green light is not on, move the sensor till the green light stays solid green.

Did you close your garage door onto something and it will no longer close properly?

  • When you close the door onto something the cables will usually bind or slip and the door will no longer close properly, or be off balance. A service call will need to be made to re-wind the cables to balance the garage door.

Garage door opener not working?

  • The most common issue is a broken or stripped gear, you will hear the motor working but nothing moves. A new gear can be replaced in most makes and models, with the exception of Sears, Stanley and Genie openers.

  • If your lights are flashing you most likely need to realign or clean your photo eyes.
